MORE About this rum
Panama Viejo was the first European city built in the Pacific coast of the Americas. It was founded in 1519 by Pedro Arias Dávila and soon became one of the most important trade centers in the continent, especially for gold and silver. This particular fact is what made it so attractive to pirates wanting to steal the country’s treasures and eventually made them attack the city until its destruction in 1671, led by pirate Henry Morgan.
This part of Panama history has inspired the creation of this special rum, as our way to show how Panama’s nutrient rich soil produces a fertile ground for growing the top-quality sugar cane used in our manufacturing process.
We employ old-fashioned methods, utilizing the by product of sugarcane and molasses that is fermented, distilled, and aged in tropical sun-toasted barrels that produce a unique smooth flavor profile to the rum.
